I am setting up some survey annotation and before I create the text favorite I wanted to check and see if the fields updated after I changed the information in the field book. As you can see in the image below I have updated the Point name and the elevation via the survey details. After updating the information the fields in the text node did not update, so I used the update all fields command and they still did not update.
When creating the text I use the insert field command in the text dialog and selected from element, then selected the control point.
What do I need to do to get these values to update before I create the text favorite?
Thanks,
Gerald Piotrowski
Gerald,
You are on the right track. First use the Text Editor box to create exactly how you want the Text Favorite to look using the Insert Field command to select properties. Then, select the entire Text, right click and save the Text Favorite. Now you can test to make sure it works properly. Go to the Place Label tool and select the Text Favorite you just created. Place it on a few survey elements. Then make changes in the survey and update the fields to see if the annotation updates. You can use the Text Favorite Manager to make edits after the Text Favorite has been created. Let me know if this works for you. If not, please provide more detail so we can better assist.

Holly,
I created the text favorite and placed the label. Then I went and changed the name of the survey point. It did not update as expected. I have opened a SR about this issue this morning.
Thank you,
Gerald,For any standard microstation element and attribute, the Text favorite function would probably behave as you have described and update immediately once the attribute has changed. In this case however, I don't think creating Text favorites is enough.
I think because we are dealing with a feature based element here, you will probablyneed to link and establish the annotation as a feature based workflow.Depending on how much you have setup already, this may turn out to be a very enjoyable exercise....
Here is a check list you may require to setup.
- Create Feature Definitions for your Survey features.- Create/assign a Feature Symbology to to all your Feature Definitions.- Create/assign Annotation Groups to the Feature Symbologies you would like to Annotate.- Create and link any Text favorites you would like to use in the Annotation groups.
