Is there a specific tool to be able to show the elevation difference between two overlapping terrains (proposed & existing) along an alignment at station increments and offsets? I could create corridors and push templates along each of the terrains and get the specific stations, offsets (lane lines) and elevations and combine the 2 reports afterwards but for the sake of simplicity and non-modeling folks, is there a tool that can do something similar?
Regarding the Delta Terrain method. Make the delta terrain the active terrain and then it will appear in the profile view of the alignment. Make it the active profile and then a regular geometry report at intervals will be reporting the delta elevation between the terrains.
You can offset the H geometry, get profile on one of the existing (not the active one), set it as the active V geometry and do a report using ProfileExistingProposedElevation.
Thanks so much Mark, I've thought about that method for non-modelers but yeah, it's just a little cumbersome just in the fact that you have to do everything twice, hence why I asked the hive mind here for a "magic button" that would do the same. I'll stick with templates but will pass along this method to others not so familiar with modeling. Appreciate it very much everyone!
Thanks MaryB, I've tried the Delta Terrain method but there's no way to extract the info I'm looking for from the delta, it's merely just a visualization of the differences.
just noticed that the "existing terrain" field doesnt look to be seeing the active terrain - annoyingly you may have to create multiple instances of offset geometry, set one to use existing and the other propsed and report these together using the station-offset reports.

Mark
