I was helping a user with a few issues today and he noticed the arrows on his plan display when his profile view was active, which indicated that there were some arcs in his alignment running in the opposite direction from the remaining segments. I was unable to talk him through a fix for the problem.
What is the top and steps that can fix this issue?
Have you tried the Simplify Geometry command?

Where is this tool found? I do not recall seeing it anywhere.

The Simplify Geometry command is at Geometry > Common Tools (to the right of the Ribbon).
As mentioned, I don't know of anyway to correct this other than recreating it, either in its entirety or dropping and re-complexing. In my training classes, I tend to make a pretty big point around this. While it does much better than it used to, the Automatic method still seems to have issues sometimes, so I discourage its use and suggest users always check direction in a profile view as soon as they create complex geometry.
If we have any Bentley Colleagues, might I propose an enhancement. One thing that sometimes trips up my users is that the directional arrow that gets displayed in the Complex By Element Command is only on one end of the element. I would propose it would be helpful to have that at both ends, both ends and the middle, or at increments along the element. Pretty low on my list of "needs" but it might help users visualize this issue sooner.
