Hi there,
I modeled barrier in open roads using feature definitions to model the guardrail. However when I output to autocad the guardrail appears as a line without any of the graphics. For BIM purposes i need the barrier as it looks in openroads. How can I achieve this output so the barrier can be reviewed in Autocad 3d.
Regards,
Stephen
Try to Drop Linestyle.

Hi Adam, I dont think this will work. I need the 3d line syle of the barrier to output to autocad.
Then you need to have barrier linestyle definition in autocad and during save from dgn to dwg you need to map linestyles. I dont believe Microstation Cutom Linestyles can be automatically converted to AutoCad linestyles.
So my question is. Are open roads 3d lines styles BIM compatible?(i.e can be easily converted to Navis works and autocad) Would I be better off modelling the barrier in Civil 3d instead of openroads?
You can try this:
Put the barriers in a separate model.
Export to SKP (Sketchup) with "Custom Line Styles"
Hi Stephen,
The amount of effort to add barrier using 3d linestyles and then dropping the linestyle (literrally a 20 second process) is exponentially faster than modeling it in Civil 3D. 3D Linestyles are just graphics supported in the DGN environment - dropping them makes them physical elements that are visible in external products like AutoCAD and Navisworks, but you lose the dynamics once they have been dropped.

Hi Mark,
Dropping the line style has done the trick. Apologies to Adam who suggested solution this first off I wasn't aware this was a tool within open roads. I'm a relative newbie.
