Can anyone tell me if I have my geometry in one file and superelevation in another file and if I change the geometry will the superelevation file update automatically?
I have made specific changes to the superelvation that I want to retain and it seems that when I have changed the geometry file the superelevation file has not updated to suit the revised geometry and additionally I have lost the specific changes made to the superelevation.
Cheers
Yes it will all you need to do is open up the super file t hen it will reprocess superelevation calculation based upon the change in alignment. However if you have made manual changes like you have you have they will be lost.. If you want to hold them you need to turn the rules off in the super file so it doesn't update automatically. I usually add a note in large text in the super file so users know that manual changes are being done in this file. It's all about rules and relationships. The down side in that method once off the superelevation is now static and will not update based on the new chainages that might occur...

Thanks Ross. in your last sentence "The down side in that method once off the superelevation is now static and will not update based on the new chainages that might occur..." What changes wont it be able to handle? i.e. geometric changes?
Yes if you update the geometry those changes don't come thru.. You can however export the super elevation values before you make the alignment changes that way you do have a copy of the changes you made in the original file that is usually forcing back to back super values.. however the chainages will not be correct.. . Report the super elevation data, I sometimes use the CSV format in the report so I can copy it back in if I need to.
Thanks, good info, I'll give that a go. Cheers
Ross,
Any idea when I attempt to re-import (previously established) info using the CSV method I get the below message? I cant seem to make select anything on the right? When I watch tutorials this screen doesn't even seem to come up? And I've screen show further below a sample of the data I'm trying to re-import.
For me it’s was the windows list separator, try changing all those coma (,) for (;)
Have you created the superelevation section(s) and lanes before importing the superelevation? You need to that first. It isn't very intuitive to my mind but it is what it is.
