Hi.
I'm using PowerCivil.
Is it possible somehow to create a region inside any shape (let's say - color green few square objects) so the green color's level is, for example, "Green_area" and later I can giglight (choose) all the green squares by the level and measure it's area with function "D-5 Measurea area"? I mean - so I don; t have to measure each square seperately. For now, when I crate the region, I can measure it's area when it is inside the shape, if I turn off shape's level. I can't measure area not even for single square.
Thanks.
Can you clarify for me?
You want to create green shapes, select those green shapes and use the Measure Area tool to get the area of all of them at once?
You should be able to do that, selecting them by either the Element Selection tool, or using the SelectBy tool. Measure Area definitely works with a selection - I do that all the time for quantities. But yes, the level has to be turned on. If the level is not turned on, you can't select or measure the elements.
Can you describe HOW this isn't working?
Can you not select the green shapes?Have you selected shapes, but cannot get an area for them?Is there another step you are doing that I have missed?
It is possible to have something that looks like a closed shape, but is actually an open line string that just happens to have the same start & end points. That's entirely possible. If you select the element, you would see that it is either a Line String or Complex Chain - these are open elements, even if they "look" closed. To create an actual closed shape, you would need to use the "Create Complex Shape" tool on that open element to actually close it so that it will measure an area.
Perhaps you could attach a screenshot of what you have drawn so that we can more easily see what you are working with. A small drawing, containing just one or two of the elements that are giving you trouble would also be very useful.
