Is it possible to copy cross section elements into a regular 2D model?
Assuming you're using OpenRoads Designer and not SS10? Can you confirm your current software? If this is an ORD concern, is your question regarding elements in the cross section named boundary models (such as cross section ground line or proposed section graphic)? I've learned even clipping portions of those will still show up printing pdfs. Since there is no more Geopak navigator and ability to easily identify elevations and offsets, you'll be stuck with trying to generate cells that give you construction based slope linework coordinated with your XS vertical scale factor and do your best to supplement what ORD can do automatically. If you have the FDOTConnect workspace, they have a XSSlope in their cell library to assist.

We are using ORD 2021 R1. We are trying to copy elements such as pavement components linework from the cross section model or from the cross section sheet model. I have tried using the fence copy to file method, but I get a multitude of components that do not seemed to be cropped according to the saved view of the particular cross section named boundary.
Yes, everything in those ORD generated sections are virtual slices of the 3D model environment (except for any cells linked to feature points in the templates or profiled elements..ie. r/w lines, etc). Even SUDA/Utilities/Geotech, are cut at exact points in the 3D Model. We're no longer able to project geotech to the nearest section as in Geopak. What you're realizing is the biggest challenge with new design production in ORD and may be why Cross Sections as an industry will phase out of being required by the contractor for machine guided plans. The designer no longer has the luxury of manipulating cross sections manually.... at least in an efficient manner. Good luck!
