Is it possible to determine element IDs in a specific range by element type or feature definition. Is it possible at all.

  • While I don't know the answer to this question, could you tell us why and how you would use this information? It's possible there are other ways to accomplish what you are looking for.

  • Thank you for responding, Mary,

We're tasked to deliver models where each element ID is under a certain range. Whether the ID is element ID or custom attached a number that counts each element. Example: 1st model consists of 3 different elements for asphalt surface dressing and the range for our asphalt would be 800000 to 800200 so the first model 800000 - 800003 and the second model with for example 4 asphalt layers shouldn't repeat the number. So it can be anywhere from 800003 to 800200. In my case we have about at least 50 different models with elements who need assigned unique ID based on their feature definition maybe which makes most sense to me.

A note, this ID will be displayed in IFC under an Item Type attribute.
