NVIDIA Graphics Display Issues in ORD

A couple of our users are having issues with the icons on the ORD ribbon not displaying. You have to go over them with the mouse to see them. See screen capture below.

We both have Alienware X15 R1 laptops, 11th Gen Intel Core i-7-11800H @ 2.30 GHz, 32GB of RAM, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070.

I already downloaded the latest Studio version of the GeForce 3070 display driver. Running version 30.0.14.7239 now.

I checked the DirectX version and I have DirectX 12 installed. I also changed the Global Settings within the Nvidia control panel to "Integrated Graphics" and added the Open Roads Designer (ORD/Bentley) with "NVIDIA processor" as the preferred graphics processor. But we both still continue to have the same display issue.

  • If you've updated your display drivers, and adjusted settings, there are two ORD configuration variables you can set that may correct things like this

    1. QV_DISABLE_D3D11 = 1
Try this one first. This will force ORD to use Direct3D 9. This tends to fix a lot of display compatibility issues.

    2. QV_DISABLE_HARDWARE = 1
Use this one as a last resort as it disables all hardware acceleration. It will display [Software Graphics] in the title bar of your view windows.
