I have an alignment that contains reverse curves which were created with the "reverse curve by tangent" tool. When I use the amend alignment tool, it allows me to choose the new elements, but does not "clip" out the old portion of the alignment. I don't want to drop my original alignment because I don't want to lose my profile. Thoughts? ORD 2020 Release 2 Update 8 Version 10.08.01.33

I think in this case you are looking for the tool called "Complex Redefine" (found in the Geometry> Common Tools Group). It will prompt you to identify the complex alignment and then the new portion that will be used to replace the old portion. It will basically swap out the old part of the complex with the new part. As for the vertical, ORD will attempt "vertical healing" which will essentially keep the vertical design at the beginning up to the swap out point and also the end vertical (after the swap) and try a best fit of the vertical in between.
