Is it possible to display components in profiles? I can't seem to find the toggle anywhere.

The following change requests have already been filed:
CR 172909 (S-09894): Create Profile > Provide ability to display components in profile. Would be a Crossing component, not projected.
CR 246103 (S-23066): Add the ability to display a crossing surface's components in a profile.
