Power Geopak Crashes

Installed Microstation SS10 and Power Geopak on 2 laptops a few weeks back and sent to others users in my company.

They have started using them now and Power Geopak crashes and causes them to have to close Microstation several times a day. (20-30). Any thoughts on what is causing this?

Anyone else had the same problem?

  • It doesn't happen THAT often, but it happens at least once a day for us. The hardest part is when it crashes over ProjectWise - then we often end up with a corrupted file.

But yes, PowerGeopak crashes far more than any of the other civil packages.

When it does crash, go to your computer's Task Manager. Geopak usually leaves a hanging process after a crash, and it will leave a hanging process after every crash...I have far fewer crashes when I remember to End the hanging task. The more of those that accumulate, the more often crashes seem to come. It doesn't FIX it, but ending the process helps a bit. I had a co-worker having a heck of a day, and when I checked his Task Manager, he had over a dozen hanging "Geopaks". Whatever that means, I'm sure it doesn't help.

No, I don't have a fix or a solution, but you are not alone. I swear SS10 (and SS4) crash far more often than earlier versions.
