I have an issue where some intelligence such as Feature Names, Feature Definitions, and Item Types are lost when I copy or merge the corridor into another file.
Has anyone encountered similar issues before?
The only way to merge a corridor or survey file into an other file is to use this command: and have the Display clipped Graphics toggle ON:
Any other way will result in just plain microstation graphics and lost informations.
I must be missing something. That only give a quantities report?
I have a file that only has a 3D model, as opposed to the usual one 2D and one 3D model. The workflow dictates that I try to copy all of 3D models of corridor files into this one.
When I attempted your workaround, I referenced in all the corridor files and did a quantities report using the command shown. It simply gave a quantities report without copying through anything.
What are the steps you take to copy corridors?
Hi Yuan,
Simply create a plan Named Boundary around your model and once you select this boundary and enable the "Display Clipped Graphics" setting in the Quantities command, it will merge the 3d model into your active model during the reporting process.

Thanks Mark. This does not work well with our established workflow unfortunately. Our item type comes from look up the feature name in a spreadsheet. This way of merging messes with the feature names.
Alternatively we have found that if the new DGN has a copy of your Item Type library in it, merging to master will also bring over your element Item Types.
You just need to make sure the "Use Last valid value" setting is enabled for any properties that uses Feature Name / Definition, etc. data.
