Now that I think about it, you could even make a "null component" that is set to "do not construct" at the begin and end points in your template builder, give one of the constraints a name of "Key Station", and then just use that parametric constraint to drop in key stations. This way you won't have to worry about accidentally changing something you didn't intend tot change, and it will be clear in your corridor objects menu where the "key stations" are.

While not ideal, I have found a trick to add "Key Stations" to linear templates without the regular tool. If you add a parametric constraint to one of your constraints that you know you don't need to change, you can force the template to process at the begin and end station of that parametric constraint. For example, if your sidewalk is constantly 5' wide within a station range and you want to add a "Key Station", you can begin a parametric constraint for your sidewalk width (set at 5' so nothing actually changes) at the station you wish to add a "Key Station" to, and whatever you set as the end station will also get processed at that station. Hope this helps!

A couple thoughts:

1. You can create a corridor model using the exact same template from the ITL file that you used for the Linear Template. Then, you have all the corridor modeling tools available, including Key Station. If you go this route, however, you may not need Key Stations for your stated purpose. If you enable External Control Points in the Feature Definition Properties under "Processing & Critical Sections", then you will get template drops at the Point Control stations automatically.

2. Perhaps you need a Linear Template instead of a Corridor model because you need the "sweep angle" ability of linear templates at a sharp angle point that has no radius? If this is the case, as a work-around, can you use a Linear Template to model the location near the sharp angle point and use a corridor model for the rest, including the location where your Point Control is located?

Just some ideas.

Try adjusting the Stroking Definition values of the element the linear template is dropped on. It may impact processing depending on the length and quantity you edit, but could help some places.

I am using OpenRoads 2021 10.10.01.03 and adding a Key station to a linear template does not work for me either.

The add key station tool does not crash but gives message "invalid geometry"

This seems to be a defect in older version of ORD, however, in the latest build (10.10.xx.xx) this is resolved. Below is the defect number :

Defect 934296:[Corridor] Linear Template - selecting a linear template drop to add a key station crashes the product.

There is no problem with assigning a Key station on to a linear template. The procedure and the option remains same, please go the "Corridors" tab then select "Edit" and choose "Key Station", select the corridor and assign the key station. What is the issue you are facing with this workflow?

I am looking for similar option for linear templates creates using "Apply linear template" tool in Model Detailing tab.
