I've read all the previous posts on the subject, but still I can't get side slope annotation to work. I've created 3D feature lines, and used the "create 3D by slope to target" function to create my earthworks extents. What I'd like to do is show the slopes with tadpoles, but I can't get any annotation to work. I've created side slope annotation which should be looking for the feature "Limit of CutFill Slope":
My earthworks extent is defined as this feature:
Next, I'd like to have the annotation from my hinge feature:
I've applied the annotation group to the feature symbology:
When I try and annotate my model nothing appears for side slope annotation, at all. I've even tried it with just simple lines and it still doesn't work. Am I missing a crucial step somewhere?
Hi Greg,
Please try the side slope annotation as YoussefB said within corridor objects created by corridor templates. This should help.

Matthias
I feel like the side slope annotation tool that was added has been abandoned half-finished. It also does not work when applying to features created by linear templates. It's a bit humbling when our Civil3D colleagues proudly state that slope signatures are no problem for them and they can't understand why we have to do so many workarounds.
Hi Warren,
I believe the side slope annotation engine was completely revamped in 2021 R1, now also works with Linear Templates and Civil Cells and looks to work exponentially faster and better now. I believe the issue as to why this function is much heaver than c3ds is that it is dynamically linked to the corridor (so will update on process) and also annotates in 3d - 2 things i dont recall c3d can do (its been a while so things may have changed). That being said, still more work needed...
Greg, I dont believe there is any way to annotate between linear features as the native side slope annotation is based on corridor-based workflows. The only way to get this to work is to apply a linear template, but it defeats the whole point of your workflow.

Thanks Mark
I set aside my pessimism and tried it again in 2021 R2 and, for the first time ever, I've gotten slope signatures to work!
