I have 2 terrain models I am trying to use the "create cut and fill volumes" tool on. The tool creates an element, but I can not get the volume from it. When I try and measure it, it says "cannot measure volume of this element" I have attached the file with the 2 terrain models. Can someone let me know why this doesn't work and if there is a way to fix it?

After creating the cut fill volume elements, use the "Quantities Report By Named Boundary" tool to create a report and calculate the quantities. NOTE: You do NOT have to create named boundaries for this tool to work. You can right-click when it asks you to select named boundaries to calc all quantities in the file.
I am currently using v8i SS10. Is this tool available in this edition? I don't see it anywhere
Does anyone else have any solutions for this using inroads SS10?
Are the two terrains defined with one existing and one proposed? I'm doing this from memory only, but InRoads Volume tools need the surfaces to have different properties if you are using cross sections. and te surfaces need to be defined as such before cutting the sections, in Ss10, since the tool to update sections was not provided with Ss4 or 10.

this tool doesn't use cross sections. when you pick the two terrains using the tool, it prompts you to pick the existing and the design surfaces, and regardless of which order you pick them, it creates the same shape. it has no trouble creating the shape, you just can't get a volume from it, once it is created
