I'm attempting to create a terrain model from 3d linear elements using the Create Terrain From Elements tool:
The resulting terrain does not follow the original bends that exist in the linear elements:
Is there a reason for this? Can I get the terrain to accurately reflect the original elements?
I attached the DGN file.

You cannot have vertical faces for terrain. The reasons of that is that a single XY point cannot have two Z value. If you move just a mm one of the point in the bottom then you can create a terrain. If you cannot do this then maybe create a mesh from your element using the mesh from curves:
then stich all the mesh together
Hi Benzi, this is because the resulting Terrain faces would be purely vertical. This is impossible for a triangulated surface. You will need to add a horizontal offset around 5mm to get this to work.

I tried creating a mesh from these elements. When I use that mesh to create a terrain I'm faced with the same issue. So how do you create a terrain from a proposed ORD corridor that has vertical elements like retaining walls or ditches?
You need to add slight slopes to those faces so they are not exactly vertical. This is how all true DTM software operates. you cannot have two surface points with the same X and Y but different Z's.
