I'm having an issue getting OpenRoads to grade a basin in the manner I want to grade a basin. What I want to do is take a element provided from another team member; for instance, an edge of sidewalk or a edge of shoulder (a 3D element

RE: How do I grade to an elevation in OpenRoads?

I am probably oversimplifying this, but couldn't you just create an end condition with an 'Elevation' target set to 100 and run the end condition as a linear template along the element from your team member accomplish what you're after?

Do you know if there is any way to apply the create point control command outside of using a template? We're in the midst of transitioning from InRoads to OpenRoads and the comfort level with use of templates just isn't there yet as a firm.

I really appreciate your help.

RE: How do I grade to an elevation in OpenRoads?

Grady,

I would think there would be a few ways you can do this. Here's one way....

Place a Linear Template on the edge of sidewalk/shoulder. This template should be an end condition with none of the End Condition Properties checked on for the points. Have it constrained with the 3:1 slope and any valued vertical constraint. Then, use the Create Point Control command to place a Vertical point control on the bottom point with Elevation and Grade. The Grade would be 0 and the Elevation 100. This will maintain the slope constraint and move the vertical constraint to keep it at the 100 value.
