I'm using OpenRoads Designer CE 2021 release 1. I'm trying to save my settings so I don't have to recreate my preferences every time. I can do this fine locally, but when I open an ORD file on projectwise (which uses a ProjectWise Managed Configuration) it doesn't load all of my saved settings, just some of them. And when I try to save the settings it doesn't remember them next time. I've checked my configuration locally and on projectwise and they're both pointing to the same Personal.upf file. In fact, when I save settings on the projectwise file it messes up my settings the next time I open the file locally. So I'm wondering what's going on with the ProjectWise Managed Configuration that's preventing it from loading all of my settings.
Specifically the settings that I notice get messed up are in Preferences>Operation. I like to have two application windows open but on Projectwise it resets that and also unchecks save settings on exit. But it does load which toolbars I have docked.
I probably can't change much with the ProjectWise Managed Configuration, that's controlled by admins at the company I think, but is there any way to make it so that files on Projectwise load all of my preferences instead of just some of them? What's overriding certain preferences and can I turn that off somehow?
Something similar sounding happens to us all the time. If I am working on a drawing on our local server, Everything is fine and dandy, until I open anything on PW. Then when I re-open anything on my server, my user preferences are all reset to default. Our PW is managed by our DOT so nothing I can change there.
Your PW configuration probably has a different Preferences Name. You could change your local config to match that one and it would all work consistently.

Mark, It looks like this is the issue i am having also. I spend 10 minutes or so setting up custom button configurations, open to multiple windows, save settings on exit, opening tools and arranging my second screen etc. After setting all of this up, if i open a dgn in another company's projectwise it seems fine. Until i open a local drawing on my machine and then all of my setting are reset to default. Could you explain how to "change your local config to match that one and it would all work consistently"? Or is there some other way i could protect my settings from changing after using projectwise
Maybe try setting your _USTN_PREFNAMEBASE variable outside projectwise to match what is set when you are in ProjectWise?
Sorry, i don't know what that means. Is there more of a step by step approach? Also i don't think i want to match what is in ProjectWise. I have my own custom workspace and preferences that i would like to keep when not working in ProjectWise.
