Hello,
I recently switched to a newer laptop and am looking for some help to resolve a frequent crashing issue i have.
The crash is reproducible in any file with multiple commands;
I tried deleting my .upf file to generate a new one and it seems to let me execute a few commands normally before crashing again.
After that failed, i uninstalled and re-installed. Unfortunately that issue was still present.
EDIT: Adding new symptoms to describe the issue:
- Prior to executing commands that crash i noticed that the settings / "toolbox" ? window won't populate and allow me to adjust the command (e.g. change text attributes from 3 mm to 5 mm)
- I also posted some of the log files in a reply below this message
versions:
Power InRoads V8i (SELECTseries 10 / SS10) 08.11.09.918
Projectwise explorer CONNECT Edition 10.00.03.453
Windows 10 (x64)
i7-1185G7@3 GHz
32 Gb RAM
Intel Iris(R) Xe Graphics
Thank you Greg for the tip, we'll give it a try. Thanks to you as well Kyle!
Hello Samantha,
I attempted to contact my IT department to gather some additional information requested in a different post but ultimately they are fairly strict about using admin privileges to upload settings for troubleshooting. They opted to replace my laptop with a different make and model and it resolved my issues. As Greg just noted below it may have been linked with a video card driver incompatibility
MnDOT is a GEOPAK user - so take this with a grain of salt. We found that GEOPAK's older software code was crashing newer hardware due to video card/driver incompatibility. Our IT department was adjusting the driver settings for GEOPAK to force it to use specific card/driver capabilities.
The following was specific to our issue - but it may provide some direction for you to investigate. It may require Admin level access to apply.
To set the preferred graphics card when using GEOPAK, the following can be done.

Hey Kyle, I'm curious if you found a fix for this? We have been having the same issue, running without any problems on older laptops but almost all of our new setups are not stable. Thanks!
