A designer incorrectly referenced his design files and is having issues. I can re-reference the design files and eliminated the issues but the cross sections then show a side view of the surface. (See attached file) How do I re-establish the cross section plane?

You should be able to reset this to the cross section view by just rerunning the "Open Cross Section View" command and selecting View 8 again.
Hope that helps.

I do expect this to be the answer; however, when I do this I get a cross section view that displays the elevation axis to 100,000 feet and the dot of the actual cross section if off the cross section grid. When I zoom in to see the cross section I still have a side view of the surface. I'm thinking memory or security issues. DOCX
I would try to detach all references from the 3d model and dynamic cross section view then re-open the sections.
Matt,
That's how I got here.
I just reloaded the software and I still have a nice side view of the terrain. IT has this laptop extra extra secure. I'm wondering if a computer setting could be affecting something in the software.
It is always tough to say what impact security settings have on a situation like this, but I would not suspect that to be the issue as all this content should reside in the DGN file that you would appear to have read/write access to. Another thought to try would be the key in:

In the V8i products it was a command that was available in the right click menu, I don't think it is exposed anywhere in the GUI for ORD, but would be worth a try.
