I don't use them yet (we aren't on CONNECT) so I'm not certain. Hopefully someone here will be able to give you some direction.

Another setting to check for the reference attachments to your sheets could be "Display Overrides". If you set this to "Never", it helps to minimize level changes between the reference and the active file.

Also, it's possible that, if these are set up with Saved Views, those saved views may need to be updated to reflect the current state of your reference.

I would check how you set the Levels within the models. Are they on View Display or Global Display? This help file discusses the difference: Level Display Dialog (bentley.com)
