Geopak Site Modeler Element

I've created an object in site modeler and the contours show when I display the view. However, if I do an element information on any of the elements within the object it comes back with an element ID but no vertices. Then when I creat a new object and add these elements to it, the new object will not accept the elements.

Thanks for any insight.

  • Neil,

the config variable finds Site elements that do not have vertices (the situation encountered and discussed in this thread) and looks at an internal copy of the DTM data that is stored inside the GSF and adds the vertices back onto the elements from the DTM data.

It does not do anything to elements that are not in this condition...

This means it should be OK to leave the Config Variable active all the time.

This will not re-establish a broken association.

    HTHs.

  • We're getting closer. Which DTM data is added to the element? Does it recognize the element in the GSF and apply the values as defined in the GSF? For example if the element were defined by a slope percentage from another element, it would recalc the vertices base on the slope criteria, or if the element were defined by draping on an object with vertical offset it would recalc the values accordingly? In other words it re-applies all criteria for the element ID from the GSF file?

  • Hi Neil,

This process does not revist the original creation rule.

This process does not change the original creation rule.

This process does not envoke the original creation rule.

This process looks at the data file that is stored for the Object that the Element is part of . It gathers the appropriate elevations and puts then back onto the element that has a problem.

    Thats all it does.

    Hope this clarifies things,

    Michael

  • I understand now. I'll try leaving the variable active and hope all is well.
