I have an old PowerSurvey license v008.11.09.878. I am working on Windows 10 OS Build 19044.1766. PowerSurvey is working well. I am looking for a new laptop. Will PowerSurvey work on a Windows 11 machine?
Thanks,
Dan
Hello Daniel,
Unfortunately we can't promise because your version wasn't tested in Win11 environment. This version is officially certified for: Windows 7, Windows 7 (x64), Windows 8, Windows 8 (x64), Windows 10, Windows 10 x64.
Look at the Bentley's Software Support Policy corresponding to Microsoft's operating system.
It might, it might not.
You can try it, but it's definitely at your own risk. Bentley will not support any issues you will have from running software on an unsupported OS, and I believe they've discontinued support for all V8i products anyways.
This is going to be even more fun as time goes on and we all work through our backlog of V8i projects.

I was finding the Power Platform (InRoads) to be specific was not stable under Windows 11. In reviewing the log files created when it crashed, I noticed some Direct X errors. Indications were that the graphics were being processed by Windows and not my NVIDIA Card. In the cards control panel, I was able to configure Power InRoads to run using NVIDIA for its graphics and things are more stable.
However, my Windows 11 is not particularly stable and my warranty supplied technician has recommended a clean reinstall and since that will require a reinstall of most programs, suggests rolling back to Windows 10 until the next major upgrade this November, once we can see how its stability is confirmed.
I'd try to get one with Windows 10 installed but with a free upgrade at your convenience.

As there is still no real replacement for PowerSurvey I understand the need to keep it running. It may run but you will have issues with need to install DHTML control and MSXML (XIN is blank issue). Not sure if it will allow to install on W11 as mostly W11 comes as upgrade of existing older installation.
I have been able to install the MSXML dll and have not had to deal with the DHTML issue. I think the prerequisite install takes care of it.
