Hello everyone,
I have created a corridor with a simple template.
When selecting different components from the 3D view, I don't always get the volume property in the civil quantities tab (see the images below for reference).
Do you have any idea what could be the issue ?
Regards,
Hi Youssef,
I'm not sure if you have resolved this issue, but we have found that if a component width is less than a certain ratio its linear length the Civil Volume will not be reported. The ratio we have found is approximately 0.3mm width per linear metre, so based on your component length of 7921m only components a min width of around 2.4m in your corridor will report Civil Volumes.
This is still an issue in 2022 R1 so the only option you may have is to break the corridor into smaller parts, around 3km in length.

Your analysis is quite shrewd, Mark. I have noticed the same issue but have not seen a ratio applied to it. Thanks so much!
Best Regards,
haha i did go a bit far trying to find a pattern for it. I am unsure why there is anything linking this component volume value to the linear length (as it isnt necessary), however the pattern cannot be coincidental.
I prefer working with a minimum number of corridors in order to avoid errors. For the time being, I use End Area Volumes Report to get the different quantities.
However, the fact that we need to respect a certain ratio is weird and I would have never thought about it. Hopefully it will be fixed in future updates.
Thank you for this, Mark! This should really be in a list of known defects distributed with each release because it could have serious implications for designers when we don't know where the discrepancies are coming from.
This may explain why I get different quantities from using the Quantities by Named Boundaries report when changing the size (length) of the named boundaries. I ran a check on some old reports I saved and it's quite consistently an issue on the more 'slender' components in my template.
also we logged SR and finally defect was filled that whenever component thickness is less than 4 cm, it returns no volume as mesh. Eg we use 4 cm thick wearing course and it has no volume when using template either in corridor or in surface template.
