other than pipe size-specific linestyles, we don't have two or three lines in 2D for pipes yet, right?
Ditto. We had started working on VBA Code that would modify the 2D feature to read the drainage property and replace the default symbology with an appropriate linestyle. But I lost access to the programmer due to the contract expiring so that's currently dead in the water and I am not even sure where the code even exists.
Let me add a question: When a pipe is resized, do end sections or endwalls also update to the correct size needed to match the pipes?

This thread reinforces my belief that the right people at Bentley don't review the forums in a timely manner. They have a response to this. I have used my considerable weight (which unfortunately appears to only affect the bathroom scale) to urge Bentley to split off OpenRoads Drainage and Utilities into its own forum. Currently, our questions and issues are lost in a sea of roadway stuff. Our Searches return a flood of irrelevant roadway, GEOPAK,Drainage, InRoads Storm & Sanitary "results".
A new forum devoted to ORD Drainage and Utilities issues will
While there is a bit of work involved in populating the relevant current D&U content over to a D&U-focused Forum, doing so will provide immediate value to D&U users. Outside of that, it's not a particularly heavy lift for Bentley to do this and increase their D&U support experience rather dramatically.
If you support this idea, please use your clout to move this forward.
Chuck:
But, in order to automate the process, would not one need different feature definitions for different sized pipes in order for said pipes to pick up those particular linestyles? What about concrete boxes? Same thing there?
Mark
Yes. If there is a catalog, when a different item is selected, some sort of assignment of the difference between one vs the other is important for clarity. We are not paperless yet. The drainage guys want the pipes to pop. Edge lines will not get it.
The same really goes for inlets. A 5' curb opening vs a 20' curb opening should display differently in 2D and 3D. We have all this intelligence, the model should reflect it graphically as well as non-graphically via attributes/properties.
Thinking further ahead, some agencies might want to distinguish between left and right side walls. Think flow direction arrows. I'm kidding. Good God, I hope I'm kidding. I should just delete this comment; before someone says "Hey, that could be useful someday..."
Hmmmmm...
That could really be useful someday...
As long as we can turn the outer walls and inner walls independently of each other, I might be happy.
