ORD: SOLVING WHERE PED RAIL IS NEEDED WITHIN A TEMPLATE WITH MULTI-SLOPE SOLUTION

I am using a template with CUT & FILL Multi-slope Solutions (1:6, 1:4, 1:3, 1:2) with a priority for each one of them. My question: even with the CUT & FILL multi-slope solution, has anyone been able to create a rule or maybe a null point that would solve for both cases WHERE PED RIAL is needed as shown in EXHIBIT B? This would only apply to the FILL Situations for CASE 2 but CASE 1 would be where i am  placing a Wall.

EXHIBIT A: MULTI-SLOPE SOLUTION FOR 1:6, 1:4, 1:3, 1:2

EXHIBIT B: PED RAIL NEEDED

  • For CASE 1 I would use a null point (P2) vertically placed so that it is always above design, with vertical constraint project to design (down) and a horizontal offset 2 feet from edge of sidewalk (P1). Then you can set a display rule to measure vertical distance betwee edge of sidewalk and this point to check if <-10 inches. If no design found or cut, then the vertical distance should remain positive.

For CASE 2, the same principle but with point (P2) placed hoizontally 0 at 2 feet from edge of sidewalk and project left to design, vertically -60inches from point (P1) that is 2 feet from edge of sidewalk (worst case for slope). Display rule horizontal between P1 and P2 > 0 and slope P1 to P2 > 1:2

  • jpln-For Case 1: I utilized Constraint Type of Horizontal Minimum & Vector-Offset added 2 Null Points Parent 1 & Parent 2 as shown in the screen shot below and it worked. It followed along the 1:2 slope down. Case 2 was similar.
