I have an area in my corridor where I go from a 2:1 fill embankment to a retaining wall in fill condition. I have created created grading to wrap the fill slope from the 2:1 embankment to the retaining wall, following similar steps to

RE: Proposed contours not following grading for wrapping fill to retaining wall

Hi Jan,

The terrain includes the edge of pavement line. Your explanation clears things up for me I think in why the contours are behaving this way.

Looks like the terrain model is trying to connect the breakline that I added that runs down the embankment to the edge of roadway line. Hence the "fake" very steep slope that appears in the contours in between the edge of pavement line and the embankment line along the retaining wall.

I went in and deleted the triangles in between the breakline down the embankment and the edge of roadway line, and now the contours look like I'd expect them to (see below). I'm wondering if what I did is the proper work flow though? Add the breakline from the top of the embankment down to the bottom of embankment along the retaining wall, create the terrain model, delete the triangles in between the edge of roadway line and the embankment break line.

From the wireframe images I would think that the contours are derived from a terrain that also includes the roadway between the retaining walls, or maybe includes the retaining walls as well.
What do the contours look like when you use only the embankment for the terrain?

While corridors can utilise vertical walls, terrains need to have a little horizontal distance between points that are on top of each other.
