I've been given a bunch of 2D points.
How do I make Features out of them?
I don't want to create Terrain out of them (but I'm willing to consider it if it's a short detour).
I must be missing something, cuz my process is really convoluted.
Create Civil Rule Feature wants linears (and doesn't seem to like selection sets)
I can do it with this process:
(then, if I want to drape the points to a terrain, I can use Modify Points. That works.).
If I want to make a Utility Node out of the graphic points, you'd think Extract Utilities from Graphics would do the trick. I haven't had any luck. Selection doesn't want to work. Filters want to look for either a conduit for elevation or search for bottom points (which I don't need because my structures have defined heights). Documentation for Extracting Nodes is "sparse". Frowny face.
I thought about installing InRoads. Smirky face.
I hope I just missing something easy.

Jeff, maybe I'm missing what you're after, but have you tried this tool?
Use the Model Builder tool under the Tools tab of the Drainage and Utilities workflow. It will import to a specific utility feature definition. Edit: Here's another forum post that could help troubleshoot any common issues you run across. https://communities.bentley.com/products/hydraulics___hydrology/f/haestad-hydraulics-and-hydrology-forum/205945/drainage-utilities-model-builder

Thanks, Shawn. Yeah, that'll probably work. That strikes me as good for utility/drainage folk, but a lot of overhead for folks who don't venture into the Drainage and Utility funhouse. I'll report back.
Hi Stephen. I'm starting with graphics; i've been using Survey to get the graphics to an ASCII file, so that I can use that. Need a "Create Features from Graphic Points" tool (the Create Civil Rule Feature tool works only with manually selected Linear Elements). So many little "gotchas".
