I have a Drawing Model of my road civil profile that I created with the Drawing Production Name Boundaries workflow. I want to make a copy of the civil profile reference model inside of my Drawing Model for the purpose of merging the cached graphics, while also keeping the original civil profile reference model.
Unfortunately when I try to make this reference model copy, I get a error message stating "Cache not found". This workflow works perfectly with Drawing Models from civil cross sections.
Is there a way to make a copy of the civil profile model reference file in the Drawing Model?
I am using ORD 2021 Update 10 R2.
Thanks
Hi Shawn. So far, your approach is the only workflow that we have also come up with as well. We're just referencing the Drawing Model into itself, which we can then copy, merge, etc. as needed.
For now, this will work until I hear back from the Bentley folks.
Generate multiple smaller profile named boundaries and one overall for the original profile. Just reference that overall (drawing model) into your smaller versions drawing model. This may allow you to break things out as you need, yet still have things associated back to the original.

Long story, but my team is the designer and constructor, which means we do the final design, temporary, phasing, staging, and construction support designs. In many cases, we need to take the final designs and break them down to buildable segments for staged work according to our P6 construction schedules and field crews needs.
Having the complete profile design in a single profile is great for client review and approval, but being able to take a final road, utility, or drainage profile, and then split it apart for staged work is very typical in our business. Being able to merge a profile's cached graphics into a Drawing Model for quick edits for the field crew, while also still having the original civil profile reference file would be a huge help.
In a perfect world, we would design and model knowing all of the stages and phases for the permanent work, but construction support work is too fluid for this approach.
Hope the background info helps,
Hi Chris,
Silly question but why do you want to merge the cached graphics?
