Create Transverse Alignment

Is there any documentation on creating a transverse alignment in Model Detailing?

  • Best route is to harness functionality within Civil AccuDraw to accomplish associated transverse alignments.  With Civil AccuDraw, I've had the ability to rule to a main CL station at a skew/angle association (Line From Element tool). Check out the following video....  https://learn.bentley.com/app/VideoPlayer/LinkToIndividualCourse?LearningPathID=113278&CourseId=127071&MediaID=5017494

EDIT: Keith, Just realized you may have been asking about the Technical Preview tool found under the Model Detailing Tab..   I'll keep an eye out and report any findings.

  • This video answered my question. I used this tool to create an envelope for allowable vertical clearance at an underpass.

  • Hi Keith,

Do you know if there is a way to specify an angle (angle in plan relative to one of the base alignments) for these transverse alignments other than specifying different start chainage on the base alignments? The problem with that method is that the resultant angle will not be constant if the base alignments are not parallel.

  • It appears that from the demonstration, that problem cannot be avoided. I noticed that through the curve and subsequent tangent, the transverse alignments were not perpendicular.

  • Yeah that's what I thought.

It would be a good enhancement idea for Bentley to include the horizontal angle control in this tool.
