I have my Openroads set to open in 2 windows. From time to time the secondary windows dominates my screen and will not minimize. This becomes a problem when I click things like "Template" which brings up another window, because it is hidden behind my secondary ORD window and results in locking up my computer. I cannot get it to minimize and have googled several tools such as keyboard shortcuts to minimize programs. It stays up and over top of all other windows, including task manager. Usually when this happens I have to restart my machine to force it to close ORD.
Below is a screenshot showing it hiding my references pop out as an example. I used this as an example because I can still use ORD commands while that winsow is open. If it hides Templates in a similar manner the program becomes locked up because it only wants commands in the templates window or for it to be closed.
Any suggestions on how to A) Stop this from happening or B) Get it to let me access what's behind it??
I also use a setup using two screens, but have never had problems minimizing the windows. I am familiar with the Templates or Corridor Objects hiding behind one of the windows. For me the first option is simply to select the Templates in the windows task bar. If that doesn't work, minimizing one of the windows will usually work.Another way is to move the hidden window to the other screen. You can use a windows keyboard shortcut to do that (shift + window key + arrow left or right). This will move the active window to the other monitor, even if you can not see or select it using the mouse.
Not a solution, but if you use the second window only for placing pop-outs, you could disable the second window option. For me, a second window is only needed to place one or more views of the model. It is useful to arrange pop-outs, but not required to place them on a second monitor.
Just to make sure, do you use any window manager software that maybe interferes?
