Generate transverse feature - OpenRoads equivalent

I'm transitioning from InRoads to OpenRoads and I can't seem to find the equivalent command for Generate Transverse Feature (slope lines).

Is this feature available in OpenRoads and if so, can someone please point me in the direction of where it can be found?

Thanks!!

  • I have not, but I think some individuals from my organization have been speaking to Bentley directly about this issue.

  • Yes, the need for this has nothing to do with 'slope indicators'. It's about grading and proper triangulation. I ALWAYS see intersection grading with improper triangulation that is fixed by Transverse Features. And what ORD tool can you use to VERY quickly product these types of breaklines? And how do you 'quickly' create any spacing breaklines between two other breaklines, perpendicular to ANY other breakline? For Site grading this tool was critical.

  • There was definitely another use, and in my opinion, the annotation use was not the tools intended use.

The Generate Transverse Feature tool was used to control triangulation between two 3D features. If you had two 3D features near each other an just let InRoads triangulate between them normally, you'd end up with irregular triangles and sometimes very large triangles, resulting in very odd slopes and grade breaks. You could use the generate transverse feature tools to quickly insert transverse lines between the two 3D lines at a specified interval, thus forcing the triangulation perpendicular to whatever the reference feature was, which in some cases was some 3rd 3D feature (like the primary alignment for the roadway). This tool was incredibly useful when creating Finished Grade and Subgrade terrains, and would be useful in ORD for the same applications. Specifically I'm needing it right now for intersection warping.
