ORD- Simple Way to Copy Station From Civil Element Point Analysis Tool to your Windows Clipboard for Pasting into Another Program Like Excel or Notepad?

Hi All,

Looking for a simple workflow to copy Station Values from the "Civil Analysis by Point" tool to Windows Clipboard for pasting into another program Like Excel or Notepad? Would like to be able to stick to the Civil Analysis by point tool since I find other Civil Accudraw methods I have experimented with below cumbersome, clunky or just downright inefficient. My current method is Civil Analysis by Point Tool and by memory typing into Excel or Notepad. Not all that much fun or efficient (in my opinion).

I have experimented with the following workflows and none are what I would consider "ideal" or fast, for such a simple task.

  • Using Civil Accudraw you need to first turn it on, pick a command (like Civil Geometry ---> Place Point or Civil Geometry ---> Place Line) then select O, grab your Centerline, then move your cursor to the location you want to grab the station of, then wait for Civil Accudraw to update, then Cntl-Z, then hope you didn't move your mouse too much... This may sound petty but this is time consuming and requires a lot of steps to do when you have lots of locations. First world problem? Perhaps...

  • Same as above but this time using the Note/Leader Text tool and then Cntl-Z to copy the output from Civil Accudraw and place as a note in your live CADD file and then go back and copy said text items later to paste into Excel or Notepad. Also is time consuming.

  • Using the Civil Geometry ---> Place a Point tool to place "Cogo Points" (I hope I don't get in trouble for calling them that) within your CADD File, then name them with a description your hope makes sense later, then either find a Geometry Report that reports back on Points (which I have not found) or copy your Centerline into your live file, use Civil Geometry ---> Event Points, place your Civil Points into your event Points list, once that is all complete, copy the Event Points list with a Cntl-Z and bring into Excel. I do not recommend this one since your quickly loose your bearings in Excel and have to start double checking your points, anyways (ask me how I know this?)
