Can I assign 'volume' or substrata feature definition for closed meshes generated from Leapfrog, imported in dgn format, on OpenRoads? Imported meshes have volume greyed out in properties. I need to run cut and fill volume report for substrata based on the Leapfrog meshes.
Hey Razmik, all you need is Meshes or Terrains that have Design and Existing Volume type Feature Definitions. I havent tried using a mesh as Existing though (not sure if would work properly),

Hi All,
With 3d triangles from Leapfrog:
1. Created design terrains for each subsurface layer.
2. Created closed meshes using top and bottom terrains.
3. Assigned a substrata feature definition (substrata volume type) to each mesh.
4. Ran the cut and fill report.
With meshes from Leapfrog:
1. Merged in master the meshes.
2. Assigned a substrata feature definition (substrata volume type) to each mesh.
3. Ran the cut and fill report.
I had to copy an design substrata feature definition and rename them to match my subsurface layers. I assigned renamed level symbology to make identification of layers easy.
Cheers
I had the existing terrain, design terrains and subsurface layer closed meshes referenced in to the file I ran the cut and fill report.
Hi JC,
I am not sure why you selected volume option design for the substrata? I would use volume type substrata for substrata meshes. This ensures that substrata volume meshes are created automatically in road cut sections (when cut fill function us run) which is very useful (currently up to 5 strata layers).

Thanks Marius. Yes, I did actually use substrata volume type. I edited my previous comment.
