I had a question about using the Expression Builder for Item types. I have my excel set up and the Item types but when I go to use the expression builder it gives me a choice for everything except the one I am currently trying to make an expression for. I added some pictures to show how my expression builder looks and the excel for reference. If anyone could help with how my expression should be set up that would be great!
You would want to create text favorites for the fields they represent.
You would want to make sure that an element in your border file has the item type attached. For example, attach the item type to a construction line in the border file.
There may be other ways to get this information into your border through WorkSet properties & sheet index properties which may be easier to apply.

I tried all of the stuff you said to do and when I opened a new file to test it all of the Item Types were set the way I want but when I created a title sheet the item types went right back to the way they were set up before. I am trying to figure out where it is pulling the default Item types.
Also when I updated the item types they finally showed up but there were no numbers or anything filled in even though I have the expression set up the way you said, they showed up as "N/A" which is the Failure Value. Is there a certain location in our workset that the excel file should be placed?
Hi Richard,
There is a Microstation defect that is present in ORD where text fields based on Item Types will not update unless Explorer is open at session start (its ridiculous, i know). Could that be causing your update issues?

I have my preferences set up to where the explorer always on the left side of my screen so I don't believe that would be the issue.
I know its been a few days but can I place this excel in each workset and it still work? I changed my configuration variable to look in the workset that I am currently in and go to that file location within the workset and when I test the expression builder it says it works but still isn't showing the value that I set. Is there a certain way to set up the configuration variable to do this?
