Making drainage profiles with ORD from Civilstorm models

Hello everyone,

This is my first time making drainage profiles in OpenRoads Designer from a model that is imported from Civilstorm. My team and I seem to be experiencing quite a few issues with them and I'm wondering if anyone else has encountered glitches and how they solved them. We've had issues with the pipe inverts changing and moving the end pipe invert to the lower invert even if we didn't model it that way, changing inverts and then the structure shifting down, updating a surface reference and it shifting several structures vertically/horizontally. I'm not sure if we did something incorrectly from the beginning or if everyone experiences this in ORD and we need to use another program for now.

  • I can think of situations where some of these changes could happen, but it depends on how you're importing the CivilStorm data, and - perhaps more importantly - whether you're applying feature definitions so that you get a more realistic spatial model. I would need to know more about the workflow that you're using before I can comment in detail.

As you're seeing several differences, it might be best to raise a Service Request, so that our Support people can look into this. They'll need your data (which you can share with us securely) and they'll want to know the version of ORD that you're using.

If you can share that information with us, then I'm sure we'll be able to get you up and running.

  • We were importing the Civilstorm model into ORD and then we were not using feature definitions. We found when we used the feature definitions, such as converting the inlets to generic inlets it would cause ORD to crash. Should we be trying to bypass that issue and convert all of the inlets and pipes to have feature definitions?

All that we did was import the models and then create profiles from the information that we had.
