So I've been using Geopak and OpenRoads for my entire career and have started to work in Civil3D for a project that requires it. The one feature C3D has that I find extremely useful is Data Shortcuts - being able to access surfaces, alignments, etc. across any drawing related to a particular project without having to browse for the file and attach it or even know where that file is saved.
My question is, is there something similar in OpenRoads Designer? Can I set up a list of links to terrains/geometry/corridors from any dgn in the same WorkSet that is accessible from any other dgn in the same WorkSet? It would make keeping track of all the components that make up a model much easier!
Hi Warren,
You could create a Linkset and include each of the dgns that all users need, and then save as a dgnlib so it is loaded for all users automatically. Users could drag these in from Explorer to get attached to their models quickly and easily. Not exactly the same because we have live direct referencing for alignment/Surface data, but would make it a bit better to manage.

Mark

Thanks Mark, I'll try that out. Never worked with Linksets before but doing a quick scan of it makes me think it'll get halfway there.
Hi Warren,Perhaps this is a crude method but i think it will achieve what you desire. You could create a container file and then reference in whichever items you need (surfaces, alignments, corridors etc)You can then attach this container file to your DGN and select live nesting, with the nest depth to 1. This will bring through all of these references into your dgn.Hope this helps,
Matt
