I just got a request from my drainage engineer concerning some earthwork calculations on our pond. He wants to calculate the fill from the existing ground to a specific elevation as well as the cut between the existing ground and the SHWT.
As far as I can tell, the Create Cut/Fill Volumes only calculates absolute cut/fill volumes for whatever models are attached to the file. I have my pond model file and the existing ground attached.
My only thought is trying to clip mask the pond model file above and below these elevations for two separate earthwork runs. I am not sure if ORD will calculate the volumes as if those areas are no longer there if they are clipped. I am not feeling very confident about that particular method.
Has anyone ever tried to do this?
Thank you for all the replies. I feel like its going to be some combination of all the suggestions people have brought up here. I snapped some screenshots of what I have been trying to do.
First screenshot is trying to determine the fill in the highlight area; from existing ground up to the required elevation. Green dashed is existing ground, green is proposed surface, yellow is required elevation.
Second screenshot is trying to determine the cut from existing ground to the proposed surface down to an elevation of 10:
In both cases, I feel like I need to create some sort of combined terrain model between the proposed surface and the required elevation. For the first shot, use the proposed surface, but cap it at the yellow line. For the second shot, use the proposed surface, but cut off everything below the yellow line.
I feel like I need to create a clipped terrain model, but I am missing a boundary. Somehow I need to create a boundary where the proposed surface terrain model and the required surface terrain model intersect so I can use that to clip the required surface terrain model. Then I can create a complex terrain model between the proposed terrain and the clipped terrain model.
Thanks for all the help everyone.

Got the first screenshot to work. Just had to run Cut/Fill Volumes on it and it worked.
Still trying to figure out the second screenshot. Running Cut/Fill is not working exactly right. Its cutting from existing down to my yellow line or the proposed surface, whichever is lowest.
Figured out the other one too. Created a new file and brought in my proposed terrain. Turned on contours only so I could see the contour for elevation 10. I then dropped the terrain so I had a boundary element for elevation 10 on the proposed terrain.
Then i went back to my other file and created a clipped terrain from my terrain sitting at EL 10. Then I created a complex terrain model by merging the clipped terrain at EL 10 into the proposed terrain model to create a proposed terrain model that chopped off at EL 10.
Then I was able to run cut/fill volumes on that complex terrain model.
Thanks for all the input everyone.
