I have circumstances where I may want my plan/profile named borders to be placed "back" of the actual alignment so that there is space between the edge of my border and the bginning of the alignment.
In a case like this, we would traditionally shift the border over a ways to be able to show some of the area before the alignment. If the profile starts at 10+00, we may start the profile grid at "9+00", even though that isn't an actual station. This gives us room for notes, incidental construction, and a better view of the area we are tying into. In this case, it would allow us to actually show all the annotation for the alignment without it running off the sheet. The Named Boundary tool didn't let me enter a station that isn't actually on the alignment. I can understand the logic of that, but Detailing is an art as much as a science.
What is the procedure to leave space at the beginning of the named boundaries? Is this just a setting I am missing?Note: All of my setting have been provided by my client. While I am not forbidden from creating our own to accommodate our needs, I'd prefer to work with what is provided as much as possible. Thank you.
You should be able to enter 9+00 into the Start Location of the Named Boundary dialog when creating the boundaries.
Or if the sheet is already created move the drawing model reference attachments in the sheet model and adjust the clipping boundaries - for the profile grid you would need to manually draw the additional grid.

OK, that worked *this time. Not sure why it didn't before, but it did work. Good to know!
