I have a 7-mile-long project with one horizontal geometry and one vertical geometry. We want to break the geometry in to two sections. Two different Geometry projects. Is there a way to do this without losing the vertical geometry? I am able to Simplify the geometry down to the base elements in the profile, then delete all the segments before the Break point then re-complex. Then I am able to break down the horizontal and do the same to the base elements but that disassociates the Profile from the new Complex Horizontal geometry. Everything I do seems to mess-up the Vertical geometry. I have tried Trimming the horizontal and vertical but that messes up the vertical Stationing.
Mike,
Try Save As. Remove Horizontal and Vertical PIs before and after the break. You will need to change the stationing on one the alignments.

I can insert PI but that does not get me two separated geometry segments with the same Horizontal and vertical geometry data. I am looking to cut one long geometry into two separated segments but essential keep the same geometry. I can cut the vertical geometry and cut the horizontal, but the vertical geometry does not retain/Maintain the location(s) along the horizontal geometry it seems to stretch and move.

Good morning Mike, there is a little nuance to this, but I have had some luck using the Table Editor and removing elements from either the start or end. The profile stays intact, and then you can adjust that as you are. Depending on the need for future changes or desire to retain design intent, this may not work (the nuance). I haven't tried this on longer alignments, but it has worked for some shorter ones. Feel free to drop Bob M. or I an email if you want and we can see about giving you a hand on that.
Hope that helps!Steve

In theory, you could export the alignment and profile to LandXML and change the start stations and that new XY in the LandXML file. (obviously remove the portions not needed in the profile and ali entry)

If you "save as" the dgn file. Rename it. Then open the new file and remove the unwanted PI's at the beginning of the alignment and rename/ restation the alignment at the break point. Then go back into the original file and remove the unwanted PI's at the end of the alignment.
