So we are working on a concrete project and currently we still produce pdf plans and drawings etc. so of course we need to do a concrete joint layout diagram with all the measurements etc. for now its still a 2d drawing but i have some thoughts/concerns about when we shift to 3d model submission only. how can we do a joint layout with dimensions? I'm leaning towards a 3d line style at the moment but unsure if we can imprint it on a surface, template drops wouldnt work for any of the curved areas or widenings also i really dont want to do 15' template drops. i suppose we could do a linear template of some sort but I currently dont see how to implement that idea.
Anyone else do a joint layout in ORD? other ideas like maybe a voided feature definition?
Hi Dustin,Not something I personally do but another thought is to use the "Stencil 2D elements on 3D geometry" tool.If you haven't used this before, it is a microstation 3d modelling tool. It can be selected in a 3d seed or from your default 3d model. It essentially drapes any 2d feature onto a terrain or mesh. You could layout your joints in 2d in any method you choose and then stencil them onto your 3d model.Note that once stencil they are static and not ruled to your 3d model.Hope this helps,
Matt
