Hello, I have a drawing with an imported LandXML which projects a surface. In order for AutoTURN read the surface, the LandXML/Geopack surface needs to appear as a triangulated Mesh so that AutoTURN Pro can use to generate a 3D simulation. Just to illustrate, I want to turn this:Into something like this (Surface Readable by AutoTURN):Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Hi Michael,
All you need to do is use the "Mesh from Elements" tool with a Terrain that has its Triangles displayed. Make sure you have the "Keep Original" option set in the tool to avoid it trying to delete your original terrain.

I don't believe Ss10 has that tool. The images appear to be from V8i.

Thanks for the heads up. This explains why then.
V8i has that Mesh from Elements tool Mark mentions. It's under the Tools dropdown (top menu), then Mesh>Create Mesh> (only available in 3D). I believe Mark means to merge into the file if referenced, if it's already active in the file, disregard. When you use the Drop tool with ONLY Application Elements checked, it should drop the terrain to a Mesh automatically (maybe into smaller chunks depending on how the terrain was made.

I stand corrected. Thanks Shawn!
I realize this is a referenced LandXML file. I am wondering the best way to merge it as mentioned above?I am currently having trouble executing the above command: Mesh>Create Mesh, it prompts "Element is not valid for tool":
If this is a reference file, can you just open that file and create your mesh there? If this a terrain ruled by the XML file, you may be able to Remove Rules to create an independent terrain. If you don't want to make edits to your original file, you could make a copy of the DGN just for this purpose.

Hi Mary, this is a reference XML file. What would be my best procedure to make this mesh surface readable by AutoTURN?
XML is not a CAD file format. You cannot directly reference an XML into a DGN file. You can import an XML to create graphics in a DGN file, but at that point, you are working in a DGN file. That DGN file can be referenced into other DGN files, which is suspect is happening here. But I can't say for certain what you have without seeing your drawing or your screen.
You can find whatever DGN file this terrain is in, and use that DGN file to create the mesh as described here.
