I really like the addition of tables compared with V8i. I think there's a lot of potential for it.
Here's my problem: I have a bunch of custom table seeds in a workspace dgnlib. I want to import from an Excel file.
When I'm in 10.10 I see the dialog box below. I select my table seed, select the Excel file, and everything turns out great.
Now I'm using ORD 10.11 and the dialog has changed to the one below. There's no option for table seed. The dropdown list for table style is blank. I don't even know what a table style is. I can't create a table from an Excel file from my fancy table seeds and am unhappy.
Now I'm using Microstation CONNECT 17.2. The dialog looks like below. Hey, it has the table seed dropdown again! MS172 also has a new button in the ribbon for Table Styles. Still not sure what those are, but I can make them based on my seeds. I can even jump back to ORD 10.11 and the table style dropdown is now not completely blank but at least has one of the Table Styles that I created in MS.
It seems to me that I need to create my seeded Excel tables using ORD10.10 or Microstation CE even if my project is using ORD10.11. Is anyone aware of a workaround not being able to select a table seed in 10.11?
I've seen this in the regular MicroStation discussion forum - you can try a search there.
Barring anything to be found there, go ahead and keep a copy of 10.10 if you need it. I know plenty of us keep older versions to work around unwanted "enhancements" or regressions, or in case the newer software is actually missing tools.

Here is the post I was thinking about. Not sure if there's anything helpful (some of us went on tangents...).
CE U17 Place Table tool - THEY MADE IT WORSE?????
I'm curious what the MS_TABLE_INPUT config variable does.... It looks to be undefined by default. (showing 2021 R1 in this screenshot, but wondering what 10.11 has done to possibly tap into that.)

Ha! I remember reading that post. Funny stuff about beta testing and needing to configure a setting during installation. It does confirm that I'm not the only one who still doesn't know what a Table Style is.
100% fully agree with you on keeping other versions installed. I have three versions of ORD, two versions of InRoads, and two versions of Microstation. I don't understand how anyone could not do that and still be successful.
