I would like to draw pattern lines along an alignment like Geopak did. Then I can create a dxf and load into a data collector to help with the survey. Any thoughts on how to do this? The alignment has curves so a simple parallel offset won't work.

Try the Construct Array tool set to Along Path (Mode to Both for distance and number). Utilize Civil Accudraw to define your starting line station/offset location of your cut line if necessary.

Is that a 3D file? May only work in 2D. Make sure you have any 3D self-references turned off, If that alignment has a profile, it could be grabbing that element.
Well my PC decided to shut down on it's own. Started everything up and tried again (all files where 2D originally) and it worked. The only thing I did different was to create a alignment rather than a complex chain.
