Feature Definitions - Pipes

Is there a way to create custom feature definitions to display crossing pipes in ORD?

We want to keep these custom feature definitions separate from the SUE/SUDA database. We want to be able to display crossing features with the correct diameters and displayed cells but want to avoid making Utilities Feature definition as some modifying tools don't work with those feature types.

These are subject to change, so we want to keep the ability to manipulate and add vertices after they are placed.

Thanks,

Emily

  • The Feature Definition you create will need to reference an Element Template with a custom linestyle set for the pipes you intend to display.  Putting this into practice, you’ll just create your complex geometry (horizontal and vertical) and reference this file wherever needed whether for profile or cross sections.

The drawback here is having to create multiple custom linestyles to accommodate the various different pipe diameters you may encounter on your projects.  An even simpler solution is to apply a Linear Template to your geometry.  You’ll be able to add and remove vertices horizontally and vertically however you’d like, and your Linear Template will always show properly skewed sections no matter whether in profile or cross section.
