I was more interested in automatically adding a set elevation to a label. So one point would add a gutterline and than automatically add similar label with a set exposure (6") for example that could be changed. Currently I'm left with xxx.xx :)

Ah, I see. Within the text favorites dialog, there are often mixed units which one can use. You could set a stacked label in which one entry was set to English and the other for Metric, and you could then place it as a single label. Take a look at the above example I provided to see these settings personally. As far as mathematical expressions are concerned, I am unsure as to whether one can do this with Text Favorites, but I do know that mathematical expressions are often used within Item Types.

Best Regards,

Mark

P.S. If anyone has knowledge of the use of mathematical expressions within Text Favorites, please enlighten me and the Community!

RE: Mathematical Expressions on ORD Civil Labels

Hi Mark, thanks for the reply but not really asking about the units setting but was just giving the sqM to hectares conversion as an example of where I want to use mathematical expression on civil labels.

Another example is a label to show elevations label based on a datapoint, the value is converted from metric to imperial (vice versa). I've also done this with coordinates, on a site where 2 coordinate systems are used. This was done without changing design file settings but just with an equation on the drafting label on Inroads SS2. Not sure if this is a capability in ORD civil labels or not.

RE: Mathematical Expressions on ORD Civil Labels

ChrisMat:

You will need to create a text favorite for this issue which will be accessed via a Civil Label/ Civil Labeler function.

Literally, the label code would be Polygon.Scaled Area, which would be created via the Text Favorite Manager, Field Type: Civil Element Properties> Field Sub Type: Polygon> Scaled Area, or one the other methods as you seem fit to use.

The design files master units really have nothing to do with the Civil Formatting which OpenRoads uses. I would suggest that you got to the Backstage> File> Design File Settings and check the Civil Formatting options in that dialog. More than likely, your Drainage Results settings have been set to Area Format: m2 rather than ha. As well, there are "override" settings when creating the text favorite in many cases. In any case, quite a few methods of setting units.

You can also use Item Types, but I do not wish to confuse the issue ;-)

Best Regards,
