Use of Item Types and Pick Lists to Choose a Cell to Place

Hi All- Does anybody have any workflows that might possibly enable the use of an Item Type (from a Pick List) to place a Cell into the Design file?

Would like to place a Text Favorite and Cell together, and I was thinking the use of Item Types might be a good way to do this? I also know that Item Types are to be assigned to Design file features, so unsure if I am approaching this correctly or not. Any ideas would be super amazing! Thank you =)
