Hi, I'd like to get suggestions on the best way to export the OpenRoads Corridor models to Navisworks.
My firm is a multi-disciplinary engineering firm and all design models is consolidated in a one naviswork (nwd) file that everyone uses for review and collaboration. The navisworks file is updated twice daily by picking up the models to be included in the NWD and then compiled with a batch command to create the NWD file.
On Inroads based models, we've created a dgn file with the triangles of the dtm and this is updated everytime there's a change in the design which becomes part of the navisworks review model.
Now with Openroads, we plan on not creating triangles anymore but instead use the mesh objects created from the corridors. Navisworks (as far as I know) only extracts the Default model and not the Default-3D model containing the mesh.
What I'm thinking of doing for now is create a 3D container file referencing all the corridors and this will be the dgn that gets exported to Navisworks. Any ideas on how to streamline this better?
Hi,
Navisworks processes the last saved view.
Navisworks -> Option Editor -> File Readers -> DGN -> Convert Model (Last Active, Default)
I have Navisworks Simulate 2019 and I don't have that option. Although I have the View Number setting. I change the value to 2, which contains the Default-3D model.
After changing the settings and opened the corridor model on navisworks, it won't open anymore and got this error.
Will export the OpenRoads corridor to IFC helps?

The model does not look the same anymore when the Openroads model is exported to IFC format, so not an option.
It might help to make the 3D model the default model. You can then append the dgn. If your model contains road marking, you need to make a separate file with those and drop the linestyles to make them visible in Navisworks. I also recommend to update Navisworks to a newer version, as I am not sure this procedure already worked with the 2019 version.
