good evening,
while doing transition of template in open road designer for 4-lane divided highway to 2-lane undivided highway, median transition form as Type1 where median transition also forms in transition template (Marked with hatch)

RE: Template transitions in open road designer

thanks

RE: Template transitions in open road designer

Parametric constraints can be defined and applied as shown in these videos:

You can use either method in your template to control the taper of your edge of pavement in your corridor.

RE: Template transitions in open road designer

Thanks for reply.

I would simply start the second template drop at the beginning of your "transition", and use point controls or parametrics to control the carriageway edge tapers. You aren't really transitioning smoothly between two templates - they abut without a real transition.

RE: Template transitions in open road designer

That would not close up the pavement gap where the median was. And I believe on a ending transition, the median would continue displaying until the end of the transition with no taper.

RE: Template transitions in open road designer

I may be misunderstanding the question, but why don't you just go into the Transition Editor and delete the "breaklines" that are being formed for the median? Just right-click on the lines you want to delete and select the Delete option.

When you do that, you might need to use some additional controls on the outside road edges so they do not pull in with the narrowing median.

Another option would be to use display rules that turn off the median features and turn on pavement to fill the gap. This could be triggered with a Null point that reacts to a point control of some sort, or a parametric constraint.
